The safety of the children at St Anthony School is of utmost importance.  Being mindful of their well-being is especially critical in our parking lot.  Please reacquaint yourself with the following procedures to ensure that our children remain safe and that these activities run smoothly for all.

Throughout the school day

Slow Down.  Observe the 5-10 mph speed maximum.

Proceed cautiously and courteously at all times.  This is a church and school parking lot utilized at all times of the day by children, the elderly and visitors unfamiliar with the lot rules.  Be aware.

Do not drive diagonally across the parking lot.

No parking in the red zone.  (The red zone is the area directly    behind the parish offices and the

parking spaces are lined in red.)

Parking throughout the day should be restricted to areas west of the parish offices, (behind the social hall and church)  thus leaving the playground area open.

Never leave an unattended vehicle running.

Do not double-park.

Do not use East Erie or Kansas Ave for drop-off/pick-up, regardless of your child’s age.

Morning drop-off

The lane closest to the school is for drop off.  No parking or idling.

Do not form a second line for drop-off.

If you child needs assistance carrying their belongings, please park in a yellow-line space and assist them.

If you feel the need to watch you child enter the building, please park in a yellow-lined space and accompany them across the drop-off line to do so.

Afternoon pick-up

All cars should be parked in the yellow-lined spaces.

Waiting in the lane closest to the buildings is not permitted.

Do not form a line in the lane closest to the buildings.  This creates a significant hazard for the children who must cross this lane in their attempt to reach their  vehicles.  It also prohibits properly parked vehicles from exiting.

Poor Weather Conditions

Conditions on Lake Erie often cause the parking lot to be treacherous, despite the hard work of the school and parish staff.

In bad weather please allow extra time to get into school.

Slow down.  Conditions in our lot can vary greatly from those on the roadways.

If someone is directing traffic please follow their direction.

In very high wind conditions, a front door drop off procedure may be utilized.  During such times, cars should form one line, “hugging” the school.  Children will be dropped off by the front door and will be assisted by the staff.  It is critical that, when enacted, everyone follows this policy closely.  Parents who need to turn left at the exit light will need to enter that lane only after they have dropped of their child/children at the front door.  Please remain in one line; we realize this takes longer but this is all for the safety of the children.
